Fenders

Fenders are reclaimed from jetties and harbours ; their function is to absorb the impact of any vessel coming alongside.

The timber used includes Elm, Pitch Pine or Douglas Fir. Elm is popular with furniture makers due to its interlocking, wavy grain.

Pitch Pine makes excellent flooring and cladding, containing a resinous grain and colourful patina.

Douglas Fir with its wider interesting and knotty grain also makes interesting flooring and cladding.
