RHS Chelsea 2020: Reclaimed timber at its heart
**Due to the coronavirus outbreak RHS Chelsea has been cancelled**
Our reclaimed timber will once again take pride of place at RHS Chelsea – as designer Joe Perkins strives to meet the challenges of our changing climate and to showcase sustainable materials in his 2020 garden
We’re thrilled to be providing a selection of FSC certified reclaimed timber to award winning designer Joe Perkins, as part of his RHS Chelsea Facebook: Growing the Future Garden, built by The Landscape Consultants.
As the RHS reported recently on the RHS website – Growing the Future is designed to highlight the benefits of increasing the UK’s tree cover to help combat the changing climate, ensure biodiversity, and leave a flourishing legacy for future generations. It’s a tactile garden made of timber, with a naturalistic planting palette and a contemporary and comfortable atmosphere inspired by the British countryside.
As the RHS explains – It features a rolling meadow, a woodland bank in the form of a planted timber crib wall, and rising beyond, a woodland edge of trees and shrubs that overhang a freeform timber canopy and deck. It champions timber, both as a versatile and beautiful material and as a vital part of the response to the changing climate. The garden also celebrates the people and organisations using Facebook to come together and encourage sustainable woodlands and highlights the value Facebook Groups can bring when people come together to enjoy, create and maintain woodland and green spaces.
Ashwells MD Janine Davies-Tutt says – “It was wonderful to welcome our good friend, and award winning garden designer Joe Perkins along to the timber yard again and to help him source the most characterful and durable timber for his upcoming RHS Chelsea garden collaboration with Facebook: Growing the Future. We can’t wait to see the final garden and applaud its aim to champion timber as a way to meet the challenges of our changing climate and to showcase the potential of sustainable materials.”
