At Ashwells Reclaimed Timber we’re passionate about saving tropical timber from landfill and preventing trees from being cut down unnecessarily. That’s why the collaborative projects we work on with garden designers and landscape architects are so important to us. And this year’s BALI award winning Urban Retreat garden is no exception.
Reclaimed timber with a watery past was chosen to feature in the atmospheric Urban Retreat garden; winner of Registered Designer and Registered Contractor Joint Submission for Jilayne Rickards MBALI & Landscaping Solutions Ltd, and winner of the Design Excellence Award – Overall Scheme Under £50k.
We supplied FSC certified reclaimed oak keel blocking from Chatham Dry Docks in Kent for the curved bench, and timber reclaimed from Bognor beach now enjoys a second life as durable decking and shelving.
Deb Davies-Tutt of Ashwells Timber says – “It was an honour to be invited to supply timber for this high-profile garden. We’re passionate about rescuing tropical timber from landfill, the fact that the timber chosen was reclaimed from UK sites makes these sustainable projects even more poignant.”
